The film program provides access to a customized suite of support designed to help filmmakers realize the promise of their project and to offer strategies and resources to help the project reach its audience.
If you want to make a movie, web series or short film and you have a story only then this program is for you.
We open opportunities for writers developing story content for online platforms. The internet has become both a place to pilot stories for traditional media and to create entertainment content for the growing audience watching on mobile devices. We provide artists with the tools, training, and industry access to move their projects and careers forward.
In our labs, fellows receive customized, year-round support with a focus on script development, securing representation, and staffing.
Imagine being an undiscovered artist with a ground-breaking story to tell but no means to tell it. For many such artist Muni Arts is hope that enable them to work on new projects for up to a month at a time, with intensive one-on-one mentoring from expert advisors as they create the next wave of independent film and theater. We believe that a story driven by an authentic voice can awaken new ideas, push creative boundaries, and spark new levels of empathy and understanding. That is why we are intensely committed to cultivating artists as they develop new stories. We cannot wait to see what is next.
Features
Make your film program is an invitation-only opportunity for feature-length fiction and nonfiction film projects that meet the following criteria:
- Filmmaker Deliverables: One entry per person. Program is considered for only individual not for a group.
- Projects must have at least one member of the above-the-line team who is a Muni Arts Film Club alum. (Someone who has taken practical project with Muni Arts program).
- Projects must have a strong producer. A producer and the director from each project must present together for this program.
- Project budgets must not exceed ₹3 million.
- Projects must have a budget gap and be open to equity investments and/or granting contributions from multiple individual investors as part of their financing plan. Projects with partial financing in place are welcome and encouraged to apply.
- Projects must have preliminary financing plans and be ready to actively engage with financiers.
- Projects can be in any phase of production, including development, packaging, pre-production, production, and post-production.
- Fiction only: Projects must have a script in advanced development. Films that have tangible components in place, like a production start date or cast and crew attachments, tend to unlock more funding.
- Projects must feature compelling, original subject matter and a distinctive directorial vision.
- Re-submissions are permitted if a major element has changed.
Filmmaker Deliverables
- If selected, filmmakers will collaborate with the directorial team and expert advisors during the weeks leading up to Production in the following ways:
- Further developing a viable financing plan to present to investors, and reviewing project budget.
- Preparing and rehearsing a live project presentation led by the director and producer that includes the project’s story, footage or still images (if applicable), budget and financing overview, and distribution and outreach plan.
- Creating a designed and printed project deck to circulate during meetings with investors.
- Building a detailed communications plan to engage with interested and committed investors post-forum.
Applications & Timeline
Applications are solicited by invitation only. When applying, you will be asked to upload of your script, key team bios, budget total, financing raised and sought, production timeline, and links to previous work, among other key materials.
